Chapman University Athletics Hall of Famer and longtime supporter David Weatherill ?51 passed away on Thursday at the age of 90. From the time he stepped on campus as a student-athlete to his passing last week, Weatherill was a committed Panther and respected member of the Chapman family.
Senior Jared Love earned Academic All-America Third Team honors for the second year in a row from the College Sports Information Directors of America. Love joins an elite list of just seven Panthers to earn the award in back-to-back years.

One big inning was the difference as the Chapman University baseball team was eliminated from the NCAA Division III Baseball Championship with a 6-2 loss to UT-Dallas. The Panthers end the season with a 35-13 record.
SPOKANE, Wash. ? The Chapman University baseball team rallied to defeat the Redlands Bulldogs 6-5 in the second game of the double-elimination Western Regional. The Panthers (35-12) were led by junior Alex Tsuruda, who hit a go-ahead two-run homer in the bottom of the fifth to help give Chapman the victory.
The opportunities were there for another comeback win but the Chapman University baseball team fell 10-5 to Willamette in the opening game of the Spokane Regional. The Panthers (34-12) won four straight elimination games to win the SCIAC Tournament and will need a duplicate effort to advance.
