2018 SCIAC Women's Tennis Athletes of the Week

Brown helped CMS open the Athenas' spring slate 3-0 as CMS picked up victories over Azusa Pacific (5-4), Caltech (9-0), and UC San Diego (6-3). Brown went 2-0 in singles, picking up a 6-4, 6-3 win against Azusa Pacific, and a 6-2, 6-2 win over UCSD. Brown and Nicole Tan also went 1-1 in doubles action, winning 8-4 against Azusa Pacific, before falling by the same score to UCSD.

Ross of Chapman won, 8-3 at No. 3 doubles, and then helped the Panthers clinch a 5-4 win over Biola with a marathon win in No. 2 singles, 3-6, 7-6 (7-5), 7-6 (7-4).

Ikioka of Redlands secured both of the Bulldogs’ points in a loss to Brandeis. She and teammate Elizabeth Johnson knocked off the top doubles team by a score of 8-4 before she notched a staight-set victory at No. 1 singles by scores of 6-3, 6-1.

Chen of Pomona-Pitzer registered a 4-1 weekend in singles and doubles action for the Sagehens, teaming with Maryann Zhao to secure an 8-1 victory over Johns Hopkins in doubles play. In singles action, she scored a 6-2, 6-0 victory, before she nad Zhao combined to knock off their Chicago doubles opponent by a score of 8-3. She added a hard-fought, 6-4, 6-3 singles win against Chicago, before suffering an 8-5 loss in doubles to Emory.

Yeung paced Whittier to a 1-2 week that saw the junior from Fullerton, Calif. notch a 4-2 individual record. Playing at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles for the Poets, against St. Benedicts she earned a 6-3, 7-5 victory, and teamed up with Amanda Rodriguez to win 8-2 in doubles. Against El Camino the duo cruised to an 8-4 win at the top spot, before being tested in singles pulling off a three-setter 2-6, 6-2, 10-6 comeback victory.
